How do I find what I want on the web site?
The primary way to access items on our web site is to select
them on the left navigation bar, this the bar on the left hand side labeled
“Browse by Category”. All the major categories of the products we offer are
represented here. Once you select the category, you can sort the results by
price, up or down, description, model number or manufacturer by selecting the
desired sort option from the drop down menu on the right top corner of the
results. You can also narrow your search to only include items available in a
certain finish by selecting that finish on the pull down menu on the top left
corner of the results. You can also select to view all the products for any one
manufacturer, you can do this by clicking on the tab labeled “Brands” on to top
of our web site. You’ll be able to click on the manufacturer logo and see all
the products on our web site for that manufacturer. You will also have access a
link to the manufacturers web site. You can also access it via our “Product
Search”, you can type a model number or a partial model number or word(s) to
describe the product you are looking for.
How do I know what type of faucet I need? <
Back to Top >
Bathroom Lavatory:
There are 3 main types of lavatory faucets, Widespread – when the faucet holes
are 8” apart from center (hot and cold handles are 8” away from each other with
a hole in the center for the spout), this is the most common type. Narrow -
when the faucet holes for the handles are 4” apart, also called center set
sometimes. Single Hole – When there is only one hole for the faucet and the
control.
Deck Tub/Roman Tub Filler:
Most common is the wide spread as explained above on the lavatory faucet,
however some deck sets offer flexibility to move the handles further apart than
8 inches or place them in different formats and places, this varies by
manufacturer. You can also purchase the tub filler with a hand shower, this
includes the diverter valve that directs the water to either the spout or the
hand held as well as a 3rd handle to work the diverter and a hand held shower
head with usually a 5-6 foot hose and a hand shower base.
Bathroom Shower:
You can get a “shower set” which only comes with a shower head and control or a
“tub and shower set” which includes the tub filler spout. Shower sets come with
either a pressure balance control (controls the water by balancing the pressure
of hot and cold water with only one handle), or with two valves (this is a
fancy name for the two handles that control the hot and cold water). Tub and
shower sets come in either pressure balance with the diverter (that directs the
water to either the shower head or the tub spout) as a small lever or a button
on the pressure balance plate or a pull knob on the tub filler spout, and with
either two valves with the spout pull knob diverter, or three valves, the third
valve is the diverter that directs the water to either the shower head or the
tub spout.
Kitchen:
Kitchen faucets come in the same configuration as bathroom lavatory faucets,
Wide Spread, Narrow Spread and Single Hole, the main difference is that
sometimes come with a separate sprayer. The main thing to remember is that some
kitchen faucets must be purchased with the side spray as a set and you can’t
add it on, this is due to that the valve mechanisms are made to handle the
sprayer. You can also purchase it with a pull out spout and sometimes offer
different water patterns such as stream and spray.
Trim Vs Rough In? <
Bathroom and kitchen faucets are made up of the trim (the part that you see)
and the rough in valves (these are the parts behind the wall or under the
counter that you can’t see but control the water flow). All Kitchen faucets
include the rough in valves. Most bathroom faucets also include the rough in
valves, however for the most part if the model number begins with a “T” this
usually means that only the trim is included and you must purchase the rough in
valve separately. The reason for this is that sometimes the manufacturer offers
different kinds of valves, in the case of the shower faucets, depending on the
pipe sizes ½ Vs ¾ inch or with stops, deck tub sets may have adjustable valves
as explained above under “Deck Tub/Roman Tub Filler”.
How many holes on my sink and how far apart? <
Back to Top >
Sinks have to be ordered with the holes based on the type of faucet you are
getting. Lavatory sinks come with 1 hole for single hole faucets and with 3
holes for wide (3 holes 8 inches apart), and narrow spread (3 holes 4 inches
apart). Kitchen faucets come in the same configuration as lavatory sinks with
additional holes included for water dispensers, soap dispensers or even dish
washer air gaps. Most under mount sinks come without holes since the faucet and
accessories are on the counter and do not touch the sink. Some kitchen sinks do
have to have the right number of holes even if under mounted, this is off
course dependent on the type and model of the sink. If you have any questions
regarding this, please do give us a call at 800-aFaucet, 800-232-8238.
Can the rough be shipped ahead? <
In cases when the rough and the trim are sold separately the rough can, in most
cases, be shipped ahead of time to allow the plumbing to be ready to receive
the trim. The trim can then be added when it arrives. Please do call us with
any questions 800-aFaucet, 800-232-8238.
What is included in my faucet purchase? <
Back to Top >
Lavatory faucets it usually includes the rough, trim, and drain. The rough is
the mechanism that sits on and around the holes that control the flow of water,
the trim is the “beautiful sometimes artwork handles and faucet” that you see.
The drain is usually included except on wall mounted faucets, this is due to
that with a wall mounted faucet you may be using a sink with or without an
overflow. Kitchen faucets do not include the drain. Tub fillers and shower sets
also do not include the drain, you usually want to purchase this from the
manufacturer of the tub to insure it fits but you can purchase many different
adjustable drains that will work fine with most tubs.
What is Thermostatic Vs Pressure Balance Vs 2 Valve Vs 3 Valve in
Shower Faucets?
< Back to
Top >
A Thermostatic valve can manage the water inputs to insure a constant
water temperature. With a thermostatic valve you will still need a volume
control because the thermostatic does not open or close the water only
regulates the temperature. A pressure balance valve allows you to
manually control the hot and cold water inputs with only one handle to acquire
the desired temperature, the temperature may fluctuate based on your plumbing
whereas the thermostatic valve would compensate to keep the temperature steady.
2 valves refers to two handles where one controls the cold and the other the
hot water. 3 valves adds another handle to control where the water
flows, to the shower head or to the tub filler.
Are parts between different manufacturers interchangeable? <
Back to Top >
Most parts are not interchangeable between manufacturers and even parts from
the same manufacturer may not be usable on different models, this is the main
reason why most sets come with the rough. We’ll be glad to check this
information of compatibility for you, just give us a call or send us an email.
Are all items shipped same day? <
About 50% of our products can be shipped same/next day, some
manufacturers do not sell items for inventory because they offer many different
finishes. These manufacturers do carry the unfinished parts in inventory and
take 2-3 weeks to add the finish, test the product and ship it.
What if I want to order faucets, shower, accessories all in the
same collection/series but I only see some of the items? <
Back to Top >
Due to the large number of manufacturers we carry, is difficult
to include all their items in our website. We can almost always order you all
the parts for your shower/kitchen to match. Even if some need to be special
ordered, just give us a call and we’ll be glad to help.
